Growing up in Gadsden, Fawn Abraham got used to hard work.

Being one of six children, Fawn pulled her weight from the age of 12 in a family headed (most of the time) by a single mom.

Fawn herself returned to cosmetology school when her first daughter Jennifer was 3. Since then, there’s been no looking back.

She said the best advice she ever received was from her dad who said, “Do what you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” She loves her work, her creativity and her clients.

Previously employed at Lisa and Company and Turning Heads, Abraham is known for her expertise. She is currently at J. Salon off Fulton Springs Road. According to her, “this place feels like “home.”

For more than 17 years, Abraham has proven herself not only as a top hair stylist, but as a successful full-time mom. Daughter Jennifer Ridgeway is married, daughter Eden Abraham is 13 and son E.J. is 12. Both children were originally diagnosed as attention deficit. Fawn and husband Ed work together and work hard to keep a balance in the children’s lives. Fawn schedules her work times so she or Ed are always available for the children. If Fawn works late, Ed covers practice, homework, supper, grocery shopping, laundry, etc. E.J. reads on a 10.8 grade level and Eden made the dance team.

Thursdays are grandparents night. Fawn works late and Ed’s parents pick Eden and E.J. up at school, help with homework, cook dinner and in general are an integral part of the family. Reminds me of the saying about it taking a village to raise a child.

Her advise for full-time moms –– remember to present “a united front” on the children’s discipline, and remember each child is different.

What works for one might not be the perfect solution for the other.

For Fawn, family is everything. Favorite places to go as a family are San Destin and Sugar Mountain, N.C.
