Alabaster police investigators are searching for a suspect involved in a Sunday night hit and run accident involving a police officer on First Avenue West.

The Alabaster police officer, whose name has not been released, was struck at 11:48 p.m. Sunday while responding to a public-assist call during her shift.

The officer was outside the police vehicle at the time of the incident, according to an Alabaster Police Department release.

The officer was transported by ambulance to UAB Medical Center, and was treated and released.

As of Monday afternoon, Alabaster police had made no arrests in the case, and investigators were searching for a medium size dark red or maroon vehicle.
