Citation Corp. today announced it expects nearly 20 percent of its 2010 revenue to come from environmentally-friendly markets and manufacturing processes.

One key to this growth in “green” business is the company’s lost foam iron casting technology that reduces machining, material and part complexity, resulting in a 25 percent cost and weight reduction and lower emissions, compared to conventional processes.

Lost foam is used for engine, chassis, suspension and steering components in the transportation, off-highway and industrial fields.

Citation CEO Doug Grimm said in a press release the company is simply producing products customers want.

“With an increased emphasis on launching sustainable solutions into the market, our lost foam technology is one example of how we’re developing environmentally-friendly products that our customers and end-consumers want,” Grimm said.

Citation secured its position as the world’s largest manufacturer of lost foam castings in January through the acquisition of Foseco-Morval, now integrated into the company’s Columbiana facility.

In addition to its lost foam capabilities, Citation has worked closely with key customers during the past several years on “green” initiatives, including on-highway and off-highway EPA 2010-compliant engines, hybrid vehicles and alternative energy applications.
