Kingwood falls to 0-6 with loss at Tuscaloosa Academy

Tuscaloosa Academy scored three touchdowns on four offensive plays in a span of four minutes late in the second quarter as it dominated in a 46-0 win Oct. 9 over Kingwood Christian School.

Tuscaloosa Academy scored on a 46-yard touchdown pass, two 31-yard touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown in the first half alone.

Tuscaloosa capped its scoring run with a 59-yard run and a 21-yard touchdown pass in the second half.

Quarterback Daniel Reeves completed 9-of-22 passes for 51 yards with an interception in the loss.

Running back Tyrone Pope, who was 0-for-1 passing in the first half, had two carries for 31 yards in the second half.

Wesley Pebbles led the Kingwood defensive effort with nine tackles.

Peyton Sumerall added eight tackles.

Derrick Lykins provided the most highlights in the loss with a 20-yard pass in the first half and a fumble recovery on defense.

Kingwood, which fell to 0-6 with the loss, travels to Prattville Christian on Oct. 16 looking for its first win of the season.

The Lions have two more chances for a win following the Prattville Christian contest.

Kingwood hosts East Montomery on Oct. 23 and travels to Meadowview Christian on Oct. 30.
