Charles L. Oakes, 56, of Vincent, passed away Oct. 13, 2009 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Burial will follow in Arkwright Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 16 from 5:30-8 p.m. at at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Oakes; parents, Ruben and Edna Oakes; and sisters, Jane Foster and Marilyn Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharron “Sherry” Oakes of Vincent; son, Anthony Oakes and wife Tabatha of Vincent; daughter, Stephanie Wimer and husband Jonathan of Germany; two brothers, Kyle Oakes and wife Martha of Vincent, and Donald Oakes and wife Ellen of Vincent; four sisters, JoAnn Craig and husband Solan of Mississippi, Ruby Weeks and husband Don of Leeds, Martha Whitten and husband Frank of Pell City, and Cathi Tinney and husband Mike of Montevallo; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Terrah Oakes.
