Event raises cash for babies

March of Dimes and Alabama Telco Credit Union are partnering again this year for Blue Jeans for Babies Casual Day on Friday, Nov. 13.

On this day, businesses allow their employees to wear blue jeans (or khaki pants) to work if they purchase the official Blue Jeans for Babies T-shirt to show their support.

This day is designed to be fun and to build team spirit.

Most importantly, the day helps increase awareness of the March of Dimes fight against premature birth and infant mortality.

This year’s event will center even more on team spirit as the shirts will be available to purchase in either red and white or orange and navy, the school colors of the state’s two biggest universities.

The challenge, of course, is to see which team has the most fans.

“Last year, we raised $35,000 for this event alone. This year we hope to raise even more and think the added excitement of college football, which is definitely in the air, will help us do just that,” said Stanton Davis, vice president of marketing for Alabama Telco Credit Union.

The shirts will be long-sleeved and are priced at $20 each.

Shirts are available to purchase online at the March of Dimes Web site and at any Alabama Telco branch location. For more information on Alabama Telco and a list of their locations or to learn how to purchase a T-shirt, visit Alatelco.org/promotions/Mod_BJFB/.
