Upbeat doc loves local practice

Growing up in Mountain Brook, Bob Henderson was a typical kid.

Henderson played football and participated in wrestling.

At the University of Alabama he earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering then went to medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, where he graduated in 2000.

Dr. Henderson’s’ residency was completed at Wake Forest in 2004.

Now, he practices in Alabaster.

On the very first day of school at the University of Alabama, a girl stole his parking space.

When he walked into his first class –– there she was.

She is now his wife Kathy, mother of Tripp, age 5, Juliet, age 3 and the CFO of his practice.

The Hendersons reside in Liberty Park and are active at Oak Mountain Presbyterian, where Henderson serves as a deacon.

His life and his business are Christ-centered.

His personal faith jumpstarts each day as he looks forward to using his skills to help others.

The field of dermatology is so varied, with patients from infants to old age.

He loves that each case is unique to the individual, their medicines, genes, emotions and even surroundings.

When he realized there was no dermatologist from Hoover to Montgomery, his direction was clear.

He has been in Alabaster for more than three years now.

Hobbies or favorite pastimes are family hiking, turkey hunting (he has a 320-acre farm in Coosa county) and Alabama football.

As a Christian and an optimist, Henderson doesn’t believe our world is falling apart.

His attitude is upbeat and his smile is “the real deal.”

For their 10th anniversary, Bob and Kathy went to Italy.

Next on their list of travel adventures is Ireland, Austria and Spain.

They love Europe. A medical mission to Uganda last year, as part of the organization “Empower,” was rewarding and he hopes to do more along these lines.

Thirty years from now Bob Henderson sees himself retired, maybe enjoying future grandchildren, but definitely traveling with his wife and enjoying the wonders of the world.
