Evangel falls in NACA championship game

Evangel Christian School came up just short of a National Association of Christian Athletes Division I football championship Friday afternoon in Dayton, Tenn.

The Lightning fell 34-14 to Asheville Christian Academy of Asheville, N.C. in the championship game.

Luke Miller scored a touchdown in the first quarter to give Evangel (9-2) an early 8-6 lead before Asheville Christian took over the rest of the way.

Senior Hunter Burridge scored the Lightning’s only other touchdown in the loss.

Evangel was plagued by turnovers in the title game, as the Lightning had two passes intercepted and fumbled the ball once.
