Five Oak Mountain High School wrestlers won their individual weight-class matches, but the Eagles fell 46-24 to Hoover in their season-opening meet Nov. 16.

Oak Mountain junior Jesse Smith pinned Hoover’s Payton Garlington in the 103-pound match. Oak Mountain 112-pound freshman Jake Smith earned a 4-3 decision over Hoover’s Matthew Moates.

Jared Woodall, Oak Mountain’s 160-pound senior, pinned Hoover’s Luke Umphrey. Oak Mountain senior Josh Greer earned a 9-7 decision in overtime in the 189-pound match against Hoover’s Michael Kennedy, who finished runner-up at the Class 6A state meet last season.

Oak Mountain 215-pound senior Adam Beaton pinned Hoover’s Jacob Thomas.
