Leonard G. Bramer was 97 years young when he went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2009.
He was born in Louisville, KY on July 29, 1912. He was the 2nd oldest of 11 children. He worked as a Delivery Boy for Kroger and then with Winn-Dixie as a Store Manger for 38 years. He then served as Meat Merchandiser with Armour Inc. for 6 years before retiring. He was always seen wearing a bow tie and was fond of his collection of over 600 ties.
He served in WWII as the General Officer Mess Sergeant in the European Theatre. He has several stories about General Eisenhower, Patton and the others.
He enjoyed cooking for large groups and taught several cooking schools, while in Louisville, KY. He and his wife Florence loved to entertain with dinner parties for their friends and family.
He was married to his wife Florence for 63 years until her death in 2002. They lived in Louisville, KY until they were both 80, they then moved to Helena.
He lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Bob and Rose Roan of Alabaster. He is a Deacon in the Baptist Church and a member of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster, and many dear friends at Evangel Presbyterian Church. He is a Mason and member of the VFW. He has two grand children and eight grandchildren all living in Murfreesboro, TN.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at Charter Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Jeff Lowman officiating and Eulogist will be Reverend Jimmy Lyons.
Arrangements were under the direction of Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama.
