Vincent boys pick up win over Thompson

Anterio Rogers scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Vincent High School boys basketball team to a 53-50 win over Thompson in high school basketball action Dec. 17.

Juwan Rogers added 11 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 7-3. Keyon Wallace contributed 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

“We played with a lot of effort and intensity,” said Vincent coach John Hadder. “We also made our free throws in the last minute, which is something we have been struggling with.”

Kenny Johnson led Thompson (4-10) with 18 points. Josh Neville added 14 points.

The two teams meet again Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Shelby County basketball tournament at the University of Montevallo’s Bank Trust Arena.

Leeds 62, Shelby County 57

Tae Lewis led the Wildcats (7-2) with 23 points. Jordan Simon added 12 points.

GIRLS

Leeds 67, Shelby County 63 (2 OT)

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats with 20 points. Whitley Green added 14 points.

Pinson Valley 57, Thompson 38

Ashley Wilson led the Warriors with 11 points.
