James A. Owens, age 70, of Vincent, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009. Funeral service will be held at Calcis Baptist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m.
The body will lie in-state from 9 a.m. until service time. Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Irene Owens; brothers, Ralph Owens, John Owens and Charlie Owens; sisters, Louise Knowles and Mildred McNabb.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sherry Owens; daughters, Lisa Skelton (Bart); son, Doyle Owens (Colleen); sisters, Essie Jackson, Betty Lee, Bell Nolan and Bobbie Hurtt; grandchildren, Blake Wydemon (Rachael), Tyler Owens and Brittany Wydemon; step-grandson, Jonathan Denty; and many other family and friends.
