Funeral service for Elon Owen “E.O.” Hassett, 90, of Vincent was held Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.
Burial followed in Vincent City Cemetery. Earl Mitchell and Hutto Patrick officiated. Visitation was held Sunday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
Hassett, who passed away Jan. 8, 2010, in Trinity Hospital, was a native of Vincent. He retired at the age of 68 from Kimberly-Clark. He was a beloved member of Harpersville Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bell Hassett; father, Mike Hassett.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eddith Hale Hassett of Vincent; daughters, Sandra (Mike) Smith of Vincent and Janice (Rick) Grammer of Birmingham; brother, Mike Hassett of Vincent; sisters, Louise Deason and Mary (Rex) Smiley both of Vincent; grandchildren, Katie Smith, Amy Barton and Laura Barton; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
