On Dec. 30, 2009, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Penny Louise Singleton-Ware, age 51, joined the angels in Heaven after a lengthy illness.
Penny was born July 22, 1958, in Chula Vista, Calif. into a military family. She was the youngest of four children.
Penny moved to the Birmingham area in the mid-1980s. She worked as a waitress for many years and then became a home health caretaker, where she met and cared for her beloved friend, Mary Jo Butler, for the past several years. She found much comfort and joy surrounded by her dogs, Harley and Shelby. Penny was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montevallo.
Penny Singleton-Ware is survived by her son, Jory David Singleton; a brother, Peter Schroeder (Anabelle) of Houston Texas; sister, Kelly Beynon (Jeff), Corpus Christi, Texas; and one granddaughter, Samantha Singleton, Pell City. She is further survived by long-time friend Randy Bircheat; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Len and Arlene Schroeder; one brother, Kurt Schroeder; and husband, Jimmy Ware.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at Shelby Baptist Hospital in Alabaster for the care they provided to Penny during her illness.
