Rena Carlson Stone, a longtime resident of Fourmile Community in Shelby County, passed away at her home Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.
She was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Lake County, Mich., and loved to return there on many occasions to visit family and friends.
Mrs. Stone was a charter member of the Baptist Church at Lay Lake. She graduated from Shelby County High School and from the University of Montevallo.
She was a teacher in Shelby County for many years.
Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Kelly E. Stone.
She is survived by her sisters, Brenda Bourbon and Sandra Morris; brothers, Walter Carlson, Lloyd Carlson; her sons, David (Jane) Stone of Alabaster, Mark (Rebekah) Stone of Mansfield, Ga., Jim (Julia) Stone of Modesta, Calif.; daughter, Susan (Dylan) Wilbanks of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Baptist Church at Lay Lake near Wilsonville.
Burial was at the Fourmile Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Lee Walton.
The family received friends at Bolton Funeral Home in Columbiana from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7.
