February and March are always busy in Montevallo and this spring is no exception.

There’s something for art, music and drama lovers, as well as for those who love athletics or agriculture.

At the senior center, there is a special party of lunch and bingo planned for Feb. 13 – reservations are needed.

Parnell Memorial Art Gallery is displaying Troy Crisswell’s paintings and Becky Crisswell’s clay works until March 13, and Troy is offering a painting class on Feb. 6.

Beginning March 16, John Heine’s recent oil paintings will be shown in the gallery.

Montevallo really comes alive during the University of Montevallo Homecoming celebration Feb.11-13.

The purple and gold banners and the enthusiasm will fly high for the victory of either the purple or the gold teams as they compete in the college night productions and other activities.

This is the 92nd year of this, the oldest homecoming celebration of its kind in the history of our country.

The students at the high school are encouraging folks to come on Feb. 12 to donate blood for Haiti relief. Their beauty pageant is Feb. 20 and the FFA’s Farm Day is scheduled for March 27.

The American Village is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with special programming. One of the programs is a special President’s Day Celebration on Feb. 15.

Get free trees, tree-related information and prizes at the popular Arbor Day in the Orr Park building on Feb.27 from 9 a.m. until noon.

UM concerts in March include the noted pianist, Anthony Pattin, on the March 1; Alan Goldspiel, guitar, and Rebecca Henderson, oboe, on the March 4; and the UM wind ensemble on the March 5.

A special treat will be the Alabama Symphony performance on March 26 in Palmer.

The important Chamber Awards Banquet honoring outstanding citizens is scheduled for Thursday, March 11. There will be great food and entertainment. These events are a few of the wonderful things to do in Montevallo.
