Charlene Lawley

Charlene H. Lawley, 72 of Birmingham, and former resident of Montevallo for many years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010. She was born in Birmingham April 4, 1937, to Charles and Bessie Horn. She graduated from West End High School. While there, she was a member of the cheerleading squad and in the National Honor Society. Charlene was also a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Charlene was a long time member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church where she was also in the United Methodist Women’s Group. She volunteered for Brookwood Medical Center, The Alabama Symphony Council and The Decorator Show House.
Charlene is survived by her husband Dr. Joe B. Lawley; children Mike Phillips (Evelyn), Becky McCaa (Duke), Suzie Lowery (Daryl), Dick Scott (Cindy), Sandra Moore (Stevie Ray) and David Lawley; grandchildren Ryan Carrico, Scott Carrico, Katie Sokul, Delaney Lowery, Brittany Ellis, Neeley Edwards (Chris), Jared Felkins (Mary), Keith Scott (Lindsey), Kenzie Scott, Kim Alexander, Ashleigh Pyle, Vickie Norrell (Michael), Kayla Lowery, Jonathan Lowery, Chris Lowery, Christopher Lawley; 8 great grandchildren and brother, Bill Horn (Priscilla).
There was a visitation Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Service followed at 1 p.m. All took place in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The Rev. William H. Bostick, Jr. officiated.
