Hoover Police are on the lookout for a suspect in connection with thefts from elderly victims.

Police said the victims typically leave their purses in shopping carts and the suspect takes wallets from the purses.

The suspect’s vehicle is a silver compact car and may have a handicap tag or placard, police said in a press release issued Feb. 2.

Two cases have been documented at the Wal-Mart on U.S. 280 in Chelsea. However, more cases may exist in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area, according to the press release.

Anyone with information about the suspect, based on surveillance photos, should call Detective Tracy Harris at (205) 444-7700.
