Hope wins ACSC playoff opener against First Assembly

The Hope Christian School boys’ basketball team won its Alabama Christian Sports Conference playoff opener Feb. 9 with a 57-42 victory over First Assembly Christian School at the Shelby Academy campus.

Adam Gurley hit 16-of-20 field goals and led the Eagles (13-8) with 38 points. Pete Thomason added 15 points.

Hope Christian will face the Tuscaloosa Home Educators in the semifinals of the ACSC tournament Feb. 12.

The Hope Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Cathedral Academy 51-5 in the opening round Feb. 9. The Lady Eagles will meet Evangel Family Christian Academy in the semifinals Feb. 12.

Evangel Christian 91, East Central 30

Evangel outscored East Central 38-1 during the second quarter in the quarterfinals of the ACSC tournament Feb. 9 at Shelby Academy.

DaJon Townson led the Lightning (19-2) with 34 points. Arron Walker added 13 points. Hunter Burridge chipped in 12 points and eight steals.
