Two well-known Christian musicians plan to take the stage at Bethel Baptist Church in support of Cornerstone Christian School Feb. 25.

Michael English and Wes Hampton will perform at 7 p.m.

Board President Joe Odgers said the school tries not to barrage families with too many fundraisers. He said the school however needs an infusion of funds to keep things going strong.

“We’ve lost corporate sponsors due to the economy and those sponsors are incredibly important to us; they keep several of our students in school,” Odgers said. “Our sponsored students would not otherwise be able to attend a private school.”

Odgers said he’s excited to bring English back to the area. English performed at Cornerstone about five years ago when the school needed funds to build a new gymnasium.

Odgers said English was dealing with a difficult part of his life and church members offered him support in his career and life.

“This kind of came out of nowhere,” he said. “Its sort of a way to pay it forward for English. We’re really proud of where his career and life have gone.”

Now, English has offered to give back to the school and church members by performing free of charge.

All the proceeds from the concert will go toward the school’s general fund.

School administrators expect about 1,000 people to attend.

The concert is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at Bethel Baptist Church. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

The school also plans to host its annual Scoot and Shoot, a skeet shoot at Sellwood Farms, April 1.
