Jimmie L. Lawrence, age, 78, of Montevallo, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at his residence. Jimmie was retired from Westinghouse Corp. after 30 yrs. He was a graduate of Montevallo High School and the University of Montevallo. He became an Eagle Scout in Marvel, Ala. on Nov. 25, 1947, Troop 42. He was a veteran of the U S Navy, fought in the Korean Conflict while on active duty and retired from the Naval Reserves after 30 years. Jimmie was a 50 yr. Masonic member of Central Lodge No. 70 F. & A. M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Levi Lawrence and Clara Belle Wallace Lawrence; brother, Wallace Clyde Lawrence; sister, Helen Lawrence Smith.
His survivors include wife, Nancy Lee Walton Lawrence (married for 54 years); daughter, Connie Lee Lawrence Goggins (Jerry); son, Taylor Walton Lawrence; sisters, Patricia Lawrence Achee and Nell Lawrence Mullens (Carl); brother, William Joseph Lawrence (Glenda); grandchildren, Jared Lawrence Goggins and Connor Lee Goggins; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Rockco Chapel from 6-8 p.m. for friends. Masonic Funeral Rite on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Rockco Chapel at 2 p.m. with burial following at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, with Naval Honors.
