Jeff Kriet of Ardmore, Okla., is on top of the leaderboard at the 2010 Bassmaster Classic following the second day of fishing Feb. 20 at Shelby County’s Lay Lake.

Kriet reeled in the limit of five fish, weighing a combined 15 pounds and 10 ounces, to overtake Kevin VanDam of Kalamazoo, Mich., as the leader heading into the final day of fishing Feb. 21.

Kriet was in third place after the first day of fishing after bagging 16 pounds and 7 ounces of bass Feb. 19. He now leads the field with a total of 32 pounds and 1 ounce.

VanDam dropped to second place overall after catching the limit for the second day in a row. VanDam’s five bass weighed in at a total of 12 pounds and 7 ounces, which gives him a total of 31 pounds and 15 ounces.

Todd Faircloth, a Jasper, Texas, native, dropped from second to third place after the second day of fishing with a combined two-day weight of 31 pounds and 14 ounces.

Pam Martin-Wells, the only woman in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic, made the cut. The Bainbridge, Ga., native currently sits in 21st place with a total of 16 pounds and 12 ounces. The biggest bass caught on the second day of fishing Feb. 20 at Lay Lake was a 5 pound, 1 ounce bass reeled in by Waco, Texas, native Alton Jones.

The third and final day of fishing will take place Feb. 21 at Lay Lake. The final weigh-in will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.
