More than 500 volunteers will fan out across Alabaster Feb. 27 as part of Kingwood Church’s Servolution.

Through the event, church volunteers will help with the city’s Arbor Day celebration, pick up trash along city roads, give out nearly 2,000 bottles of water, host cookouts, hold car washes and give out donuts at every business from the Pelham YMCA to Alabaster’s Saginaw Pipe plant.

The volunteers will also donate gift boxes to Pelham and Alabaster police and firefighters, visit several senior citizens’ homes and help clean up yards throughout the city.

The Feb. 27 event will serve to kick off the church’s “acts of kindness” campaign, according to a church press release.

“The serving will not end after today. We are just beginning with a new adventure of demonstrating to our community how much they mean to us,” church Pastor Benny Cunningham wrote in the release.

Volunteers will meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, and will go out into the community at 9:30 a.m.
