Briarwood, Spain Park win tennis matches

The Briarwood Christian School and Spain Park High School boys’ tennis teams won matches March 1.

Briarwood Christian won three doubles’ matches after dropping three singles’ matches to defeat visiting Trinity.

Griffin Russell defeated his singles’ opponent 9-7 and Taylor Brewton won his match 8-4. Devin Bowman defeated his opponent 8-5.

Brewton and Matt Nichols teamed up to win a doubles’ match 8-3. Russell and Philip Taylor won their doubles’ match 8-6, while Bowman and Russell Hancock won a doubles’ match 9-7.

Spain Park swept all singles’ and doubles’ matches in a 9-0 win over Homewood.

The Jaguars improved to 3-1 in matches this season with the victory.

Sonny Christopher won his singles’ match 10-1, Jack Nicholas won 10-2, J.C. Moore earned a 10-2 win and Keita Ueno defeated his singles’ opponent 10-1. Colin Schroeder and Mitchell Carr each won their singles’ matches 10-0.

Christopher and Nicholas won a doubles’ match 10-1, Moore and Schroeder picked up a 10-2 win and Ueno and Carr teamed up for a 10-1 victory in a doubles’ match.
