XTERRA returns to Oak Mountain State Park March 14

The XTERRA Trail Run Series will return to Oak Mountain State Park Sunday, March 14 as the third of four races in the series.

The run will feature 10 kilometers of rolling hills, twisting roots and technical single-track trails.

The XTERRA series is no stranger to Pelham, as the Southeast Championship has been held at Oak Mountain State Park for the last four years.

This year’s Southeast Championship is scheduled for June 12-13.

The winner of the Trail Series Run will position themselves for the points lead in the 2010 XTERRA Alabama Regional Championship.

The Alabama winner will earn free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in Bend, Ore., on Sept. 18.

From there, the top finishers will advance to the Trail Running World Championship Dec. 5 in Oahu, Hawaii.

The March 14 Trail Run at Oak Mountain is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $35 until March 6, and $40 until race day.

Medals and prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers, and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

Runners must be present to receive awards.
