The city of Hoover is holding its annual rummage sale March 27 in the gym at the Hoover Recreation Center.

Dee Nance of the Hoover Parks and Rec Department said the sale, which will be from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., would feature furniture, books, homemade jewelry, Tupperware, antiques, holiday decorations and electronics, among others.

“It just gives everybody an opportunity to be inside,” Nance said. “It’s just an opportunity for Joe Public. They keep all the money they make at their booths.”

Nance said she still has about 10 booths available. Booth space is available for $15 per space.

If sellers do not want to take unsold items home after the sale, they can leave them in a designated area outside the gym for charitable organizations to pick up.

Nance said she expects at least 200 shoppers to come through the day of the rummage sale. Public response has been strong, she said. “Our booth spaces are filling up really, really fast. People have been calling up asking, ‘When’s the sale?’” she said. “With the economy, people are going to be looking for good deals.”

Nance said shoppers should use Lorna Road to reach the recreational center on the day of the sale since Municipal Drive has been closed for road work.
