As a result of the nearly 8 inches of rain that fell on the city March 10, Mayor Don Murphy has announced the city will pick up items like damaged carpeting and floor padding at no charge.

“Some areas flooded that have never flooded before,” Murphy said.

Anyone who experienced flood damage to their home is asked to call City Hall at 620-6400 to report the damage and to schedule a curbside pickup.

“We’re trying to assess the property damage,” Murphy said.

Once Murphy has accounted for all the homes and businesses that were damaged by the flooding, he will report the findings to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in an effort to have the area declared a disaster area.
