Reasons Bentley deserves local votes

Dear Editor,

I want to give you and your readers the reasons why I will be voting for Robert Bentley for governor of Alabama.

Robert Bentley was born and raised in Shelby County.

I have known Robert and his family all of my life.

I worked with the youth at First Baptist Church of Columbiana (and still do today).

I worked with Robert Bentley, who was actively involved in our church and in the youth council and the youth choir.

I was on the faculty of Shelby County High School in Columbiana from September 1955-May 1962. Robert was a student at the high school.

Robert Bentley was the first candidate for governor to produce a comprehensive plan to make Alabama the most job-friendly state in the union, and the only candidate to pledge not to accept the governor’s salary until Alabama reaches full employment.

“I know that keeping taxes and energy costs low will bring more jobs to our state. I plan to encourage our citizens to start small businesses … because small businesses create 75 percent of all jobs,” Bentley has said.

As Bentley has presented his plans in forums across Alabama, his campaign has begun to catch fire!

From out of nowhere he has rocketed to second place in several recent polls.

Robert Bentley states that he is tired of big government and massive tax increases.

He is determined that neither will happen during a Bentley administration. Robert Bentley promises to protect Alabama families from federal power grabs.

He was a signer of the Tax Protection Pledge. He’s promised to veto any tax increase that reaches his desk.

He has introduced a constitutional amendment that would freeze taxes on our homes.

Because he was a doctor for 34 years, he has the know-how to fix our broken healthcare system without billions of dollars in new taxes and without denying care to those who need it.
