Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity charters Alabaster-Pelham Alumni Association

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity recently established an Alabaster-Pelham Alumni Association, and was approved for chartering by the Grand Board of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Members of the fraternity reside in Hoover, Alabaster, Pelham, Calera and metro Birmingham.

The chartering ceremony took place in Pelham.

The Alumni Association aims to bring scholarships and community service to the Shelby County Area.

Recently, The Alabaster-Pelham Alumni Association volunteered with First Baptist Church Pelham, as they did their quarterly “Saved To Serve”.

The program is an outreach ministry that the church sponsors with volunteers working and cleaning neighborhoods in the name of Jesus Christ.

“This is not the average fraternity. We plan to serve this community in any way possible,” said Polemarch Maurice Mercer. “We were excited about the opportunity to work with First Baptist Pelham in the name of Jesus Christ. We look forward to ongoing work with them and the entire community.”

The Chapter is also currently raising money for the American Cancer Society’s North Shelby County Relay For Life.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was founded January 5,1911, in Bloomington, Ind. The fraternity was founded by 10 men, lead by Elder Watson Diggs. The fundamental purpose of the fraternity is achievement in every field of human endeavor. The fraternity has dual membership both collegiate and alumni chapters.
