Pelham girls soccer tops Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa

The Pelham High School girls soccer team defeated Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 1-0 in high school soccer action March 30.

Melissa Cooley scored the only goal for the Panthers, who improved to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in Class 6A, Section 6.

Spain Park 5, Homewood 0

Simone Charley scored four goals to lead the Jaguars (14-3-2, 6-1 in Class 6A, Section 5) in the shutout.

Madeline Hughes also scored a goal for Spain Park. Courtney Newton, Grace Connolly amd Alex Gaskins finished with an assist each.

Spain Park goalkeeper Lauren Arnold recorded two saves.

Briarwood Christian 4, Altamont 1

Ashleigh Cutcliffe scored a goal and recorded an assist to lead the Lions, who improved to 9-5-1 overall.

Abbie Cutcliffe, Leeanne Holliman and Sara Smeltzer also had a goal each.

Briarwood goalkeepers Callie Richie and Julia Hoke finished with one save each.
