Vividly–colored eggs laying in well–hidden spots across parks in Shelby County can expect hundreds of kids hunting them down this weekend. The following are cities and organizations hosting hunts:

The City of Alabaster will host a citywide Easter celebration April 3 with two Easter Egg hunts at Veterans Park. The first will be held at 9 a.m. and the second at 1:30 p.m. Parents are welcome to bring children from babies through fifth grade to participate.

The City of Pelham will host an Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. at the Pelham City Parks Youth Football field April 3. There will be more than 8000 eggs to be found. The Easter Bunny will be at the event and available for pictures.

Patrons of the North Shelby Library can enjoy the annual Easter Egg Hunt April 3 from 10:30–11 a.m. for kids 4 and up in the Children’s Department, 11–11:30 a.m. for kids birth to 3 in the meeting room. The library will provide snacks, prizes and a visit from a special furry guest.

Montevallo will host hunts for older and younger children at Orr Park April 3 at 10 a.m. There will also be prize baskets for two children in each age group.

The Cottontail Express will leave from the Heart of Dixie Railroad for Peter Cottontail’s meadow Saturday, April 3. Train departs 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. The excursion will last approximately 90 minutes. Visit hodrrm.org.

Discover eggs during two Easter egg hunts throughout Oak Mountain State April 3 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. There will be more than 10,000 eggs hidden, as well as other activities such as face painting, a hayride, moonwalk, cake hop, sack races and more. Some activities have an additional charge after admission into the park. The two hunts will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Shelby County Treatment Center, located at 750 Highway 31 South in Alabaster, will host its annual Easter Eggstravaganza , that will begin at noon April 3. The event will include an Easter Egg Hunt, games, prizes, hot dogs, popcorn and other treats. This event is free to the public.

Vincent Revival Center will hold their annual Easter egg hunt April 3 at 10 a.m. at Vincent Elementary School. Bring a basket.

Chelsea Community Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt April 3 at noon. The event will include free prizes and food. There will also be a special visit from the Easter bunny. The hunt will include four fields of hidden eggs for kids up to 12–years–old. Info: 913-2615
