Myrtis Johnson Mitchell was born Sept. 4 1932, and died March 30, 2010. She was a resident of Calera and was originally from Georgiana. She was a member at Concord Baptist Church in Calera.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Samuel Mitchell.
Survivors include, daughters, Diane (Glenn) Posey and Lisa (Herbert) Waldrop; sons, Gene (Becky) Mitchell and Mark Mitchell; brother, Ray Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Jones, Myrtle Dobbs, Marjorie Bullard, Margaret Johnson and Sue Hatcher. Myrtis also had 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a long time companion Onnie Lee.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Rockco Chapel in Montevallo, with burial in the Moores Cemetery. The Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating.
