A 2-year-old Helena girl was killed April 11 after she was struck by a vehicle while playing in a driveway on Fieldstone Drive.

Helena Police officers discovered the girl laying unresponsive in the driveway in the 400 block of Fieldstone Drive after someone called police to report the accident at about 4:45 p.m.

Helena Fire and Rescue responded to the residence, and transported the child to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead about an hour after she arrived.

“Our investigation shows that the child, who lived at an adjacent residence, was playing near the driveway,” Helena Police Capt. Tim Carter wrote in a press release.

“The driver, a 19-year-old male, was backing into the driveway and could not see the child who fell and slid underneath the vehicle,” Carter added.

As of April 12, no criminal charges had been brought in the case.
