The University of Montevallo announced Tuesday that head women’s basketball coach Brittney Ezell has accepted the head coaching position at Division I Belmont University and will not return for the 2010-2011 season at Montevallo.

Montevallo will open a national search immediately to seek a replacement, said Montevallo athletic director Jim Herlihy.

Ezell led the Falcons for two seasons, compiling a record of 22-33. Ezell led the Falcons to a 14-13 record this past season, which was only the second winning season in program history since the Falcons joined the NCAA in 1996.

Ezell also coached the Falcons to the Gulf South Conference tournament in her first season at the helm in 2008-2009 and doubled their conference win total from two to four.
