Oak Mountain picks up area softball win against Thompson

The Oak Mountain High School softball team defeated Thompson 4-2 in a Class 6A, Area 10 contest in high school softball action April 20.

Nicole Kehr picked up the win in the circle after allowing only two earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and a walk in a complete game.

Olivia Mire led the Eagles (26-17, 5-3 in Class 6A, Area 10) at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 and scored a run.

Caroline Seitz went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. Leah Reeve finished 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Marly Terrell led Thompson at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 and drove in a run.

Ashley Savage went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Kelsey Johnson finished 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a run.

Rachel Rigney took the loss after giving up only one earned run on eight hits with nine strikeouts and a walk in a complete game.

Chelsea 10, John Carroll 0

Morgan Pence pitched a three-hit shutout with five strikeouts to lead the Hornets past John Carroll in a Class 5A, Area 8 game.

Kaitlyn Bice led Chelsea (25-11-1) at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 and drove in a run.

Carley Toretta went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Tori Hollis finished 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored a run.

Sumiton Christian 3, Pelham 0

Mary Morgan Dramer, Sarah Smith, Heather McGuirk and Erin Whitman had one hit each for the Panthers.

Melanie Tittle took the loss after giving up two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and six walks in a complete game.
