Chelsea High School recently constructed a greenhouse to educate students on the impact of agronomic crops on the economy. The greenhouse serves a training site for the special education, science, and business economics departments.

Students are taught to grow a variety of hydroponic fruits and vegetables. Teachers also use these resources to instruct students on all phases of plant production, salesmanship, financing, record keeping, organization and supply ordering.

CAWACO Resource Conservation and Development and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System has provided a $5,000 reimbursable education challenge grant to assist in purchasing a hydro stacker and other materials. The total cost of the project was $10,600.
