Six Shelby County students recently earned awards for their accomplishments during their graduate tenure at the University of Montevallo.

UM faculty members recently recognized the school’s most influential and hardest-working graduate students during the annual graduate honors reception.

During the event, several Shelby County natives took home some of the top honors in their majors.

Alabaster resident Ashley Goodson received the Vivian Roe Outstanding Clinical Achievement award for the school’s master’s of science in speech language pathology program.

Fellow Alabaster resident Cynthia White took home the Outstanding Graduate Student award in UM’s master’s of arts in English program.

Calera resident Holly Jackson was named Outstanding Graduate Student in the school’s master’s of education instructional leadership program, and Sterrett resident Jessica Stewart was named Outstanding Graduate Student in the educational specialist teacher leadership program.

Helena natives Atkins and Richard Scott were also named Outstanding Graduate Students in the educational specialist instructional leadership program and the master’s of education secondary education program, respectively.
