Senior first baseman Chris Sosebee and senior centerfielder Kevin Garcia of the University of Montevallo baseball team were named to the Peach Belt Conference all-conference second team May 6.

These are the first all-conference awards for both Sosebee and Garcia and the first PBC all-conference awards for the baseball program.

Sosebee led the Falcons in nine offensive categories during the 2010 season. Earlier this year he tied or broke five Montevallo records in one game against Augusta State in which he went 5-for-5 with three homeruns and 10 RBIs. He ended the season with a .399 batting average with 56 RBI and 14 homeruns. He had a .719 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage. He was named the University of Montevallo Male Athlete of the Year and was also named the Montevallo baseball program’s Most Valuable Player.

Garcia had a .323 batting average, good for second on the team, with 10 doubles, a triple, seven homeruns and 41 RBIs. He had a .521 slugging percentage to go along with a .415 on-base percentage. He drew a team-high 22 walks and stole a season-high 15 bases.

Sosebee and Garcia will go down in the Montevallo record books as the first two players in Montevallo baseball history to be named to an all-conference team in the Peach Belt Conference.
