Thompson Sixth Grade Center students took part in a Hat Day and emptied their piggy banks to raise $932.81 for the people of Haiti. First Priority, a student organization, sponsored the Hat Day and kept students up to date on the relief efforts. The money was donated to the American Red Cross. Mary Kinard, executive director of the Shelby County Chapter, picked up the money.
