Vincent community members now have another way to help Vincent Middle/High School financially.

VMHS is participating in the Office Depot “5% Back to Schools” program, in which Office Depot customers can give a special school code when making purchases, and the school will get credit equal to 5 percent of the purchases.

VMHS Principal Gary Minnick said he hasn’t seen any of the benefits from the program yet, but the school sent letters to parents, local pastors and community officials in April informing them of the program.

“We don’t have any discretionary money at this school at this point because of the economy,” Minnick said. “It would give us a little extra gravy, something extra so we can supply the needs for kids.”

The program is ongoing throughout the school year. The VMHS code for Office Depot customers is 70002259.

Minnick said he found out about the program through a system-wide principals’ meeting.
