The Valleydale Farmer’s Market is scheduled to get a little financial help this weekend.

The Cawaco Resource Conservation and Development Council, along with State Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin, is scheduled to announce a $5,000 community involvement grant for the farmer’s market May 15, according to a press release.

The grant will be used to promote the farmer’s market throughout the community.

McClurkin said she feels supporting local farmer’s markets are important because goods produced by farmers taste better and are easier on the wallet.

“The Valleydale Farmer’s Market will give people an option to purchase food that comes from Shelby County and support Shelby County farmers,” she said.

The farmer’s market will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon, May 15-Sept. 4.
