The Shoal Creek Golf Club will host the 104th Southern Amateur championship July 14-17.

It will be Shoal Creek’s first time to host the prestigious tournament, which began in 1902. Several former winners of the Southern Amateur have gone on to play on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour, including Ben Crenshaw and Steve Lowery.

Shoal Creek, which opened in 1977, was designed by professional Jack Nicklaus.

Qualifying tournaments for the 168-person field will take place across the Southeast in the month of June, including a tournament at Timberline Golf Course in Calera. Timberline will host a qualifying tournament June 29.
