Shelby County High School baseball standouts Braten Dill and Kevin McNorton, along with Calera’s Trent Posey, were selected for the Central region team in the upcoming Alabama Lions Sight Conservation East-West Classic at Samford University.

The trio was chosen to suit up for the Central team, which will face off against three other all-star teams from across the state June 4-5 at Joe Lee Griffin Stadium, following a successful tryout session May 29 in Clanton. The three players stood out during two six-inning games.

Dill, McNorton and Posey played for the West team in Clanton, which swept the East 4-2 and 5-2 in a doubleheader.

Dill finished 1-for-2 at the plate in the opener with a double in third inning. Dill, who drove in Posey and scored a run in the first game, threw out a runner at third base from center field to end a scoring threat by the East team.

Dill struck out three batters and gave up one walk in one hitless inning on the mound in the second game.

McNorton struck out three and allowed only one hit in two innings on the mound in the opener. McNorton went 1-for-2 with a single and drove in a run at the plate.

McNorton blasted a solo homer to left field in the second game.

Posey walked twice and scored a run in the first game before going 0-for-2 in the nightcap.
