Julia Faye Wakefield Griffin, 72, a resident of Columbiana, AL, passed away on Wednesday, June16, 2010, at a local hospital following surgical complications. Chapel service was at 10 a.m., on June 19, at Bolton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Summer Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, June 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bolton Funeral Home.
She was born August 15, 1937, in Nauvoo, Winston County, Alabama, to the late Thomas Marion and Rosa Belle (Henson) Wakefield. She was married to the late Curtis Delano Griffin (Ret. Air Force) on October 29, 1954, and was married for 40 years.
Mrs. Griffin is preceded in death by her four brothers, Leo, Bruce, TJ and Kenneth, and an infant brother, Audrey. She is survived by her sons, Curtis Wayne Griffin (Elaine) of Brent, AL; Franklin Owen Griffin of Columbiana, AL,; Robert Stewart Jerome Griffin (Tamatha) of Columbiana, AL; daughters, Faye Danette Turner (Timothy) of Tallahassee, FL, Christina Collette Roberts (Martin) of Tallahassee, FL, Kimberly Kaye Kelley (Barry) of Prospect, TN; grandchildren, Brandy, Nicole, Kelsea, Jacob, Carlin, Miranda, Jordan, Kristian, RJ, Wesley, Kacey, Dillon, Michael, Alana, Hannah, Savannah, Katie, Hanna, Josh and Adam; great grandchildren, Shya, Destiny, Austin, Gabrielle, Aubrey D., Colton, Ethan, Aubrey G.; brothers, James Wakefield (Betty) of Hartselle, AL, Deebart Wakefield (Lou) of West Union, SC, Clarence Owen Wakefield of Columbiana, AL; sisters, Christine Dodson (Dave) of Columbiana, AL, Connie Kay Seale (David Houston) of Columbiana, Mary Ruth Crowley (Clarence) of California, Tommie Lou Buckelew (Oscar) of Virginia and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends that she loved dearly.
