A pair of Montevallo schools will see new administrators this fall after the Shelby County School District approved two new assistant principals in the city.

The school board approved new assistant principals at Montevallo Middle and Elementary schools during its June 17 meeting.

When the 2010-2011 school year begins, Shellie Ritch will serve as Montevallo Middle School’s assistant principal.

Ritch has more than 11 years of teaching experience, and is currently a language arts teacher at Calera High School.

In addition to her teaching experience, Ritch also earned a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree and a specialist degree in educational administration from the University of Montevallo.

The school board also approved Haley Franks as Montevallo Elementary School’s assistant principal.

Franks is currently a fifth-grade teacher at Montevallo Elementary, and has more than seven years of teaching experience.

Franks received a bachelor’s of science degree from Troy University, and a master’s degree in educational administration from UM.

The pair of assistant principals will join Montevallo Elementary School Principal Dr. Annie McClain and Montevallo Middle School Principal Sheila Lewis.

Shelby County students will return to class Aug. 12.
