Chelsea all-star softball team competes at state tournament

An 8-year-old all-star softball team from Chelsea finished with a 4-2 record in the National Softball Association state tournament June 24-26 in Orange Beach.

The Chelsea all-stars won two area tournaments and a region tournament to earn the right to compete in the state tournament. The team entered the state tournament with a perfect 16-0 record and finished with a 20-2 mark during the all-star season.

Chelsea dropped games against Monrovia and Hueytown by a total of two runs at the state tournament. The tournament season ended with 16-15 loss to Hueytown in an extra-inning game. Monrovia won the state tournament and Hueytown finished runner-up.

“The girls accomplished a lot,” said coach Darell Eidson. “We faced very good competition. Six teams could have won the title.”

The Chelsea 8-and-under all-star team consists of Alex Fayet, Kamryn Morrision, Brooklyn Navarre, Madeline Moody, Kambelle Bryant, Sutton Arnold, Andrilynn Jeffords, Abbi Standifer, Addison Brasseaux, Camryn Smith, Chloe Eidson and Skylar Baker. The team was coached by Eidson, Scotty Brasseaux, David Smith and Barry Navarre.
