Dothan native captures Greystone Invitational title

Glenn Northcutt of Dothan fired a 3-under par 69 in the final round of the 10th annual Greystone Invitational on the Founder’s Course at Greystone Golf and Country Club to seal the tournament victory by one stroke June 27.

Northcutt, who had three birdies and an eagle in the final round, finished with a tournament total 10-under par 278 to win his first Greystone Invitational championship.

Northcutt, who was the runner-up in the 2009 Greystone Invitational, birdied the final hole to seal the win after starting the final round six strokes behind leader Chase Cochran of Paducah, Ky.

Northcutt edged Cochran of Paducah, Ky., who shot a 4-over par 76 in the final round and finished with a tournament total of 9-under par 279.

Eli Cole of Beverly Hills, Calif, finished third overall with a tournament total of 5-under par 283.

The top local finisher was former Spain Park High School standout Trey Del Greco, who fired a four-day total of 1-under par 287 to finish tied for fifth overall.

Del Greco, the son of former NFL star Al Del Greco, shot a 6-under par 66 in the second round of the tournament. The Vanderbilt University rising junior birdied the first three holes and finished with seven total birdies in the second round of the tournament.
