Five members of the Pelham High School baseball team were recently named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger All-American Team.

Graduating seniors Trae Santos, Tripp Martin, Andrew Bishop and Michael Bishop, along with rising senior Trevor Fitts, were each honored by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Michael Bishop, Santos and Fitts were chosen for the All-American team. Andrew Bishop and Martin were named honorable mentions.

Fitts, a right-handed pitcher, finished his junior season with a 14-0 record with a 0.91 earned run average and three saves in 14 starts. Fitts pitched 14 complete games with seven shutouts in 92 total innings.

Fitts, who has committed to Mississippi State, gave up only 47 hits with 151 strikeouts and only 19 walks.

Fitts set school season records for wins, complete games, shutouts and strikeouts. He also set school career records for saves, shutouts, wins and strikeouts during his junior season.

Fitts was named ESPN Rise Player of the Week during the season and was a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year.

Bishop, an outfielder, batted .438 with 60 total hits, including 11 homeruns, 14 doubles and two triples. Bishop drove in 47 runs, scored 69 runs and stole 44 bases.

The Jacksonville State signee set school record for stolen bases and runs scored in a season, and his 69 runs are 10th all-time in state history. Bishop also set school career records in runs scored, homeruns, and stolen bases.

Santos, a left-handed pitcher/first baseman, went 8-2 with a1.53 earned run average and 85 strikeouts in 64 total innings on the mound. Santos finished with four complete-game shutouts.

The Jacksonville State signee batted .358 with 44 total hits, including eight homeruns and 12 doubles. Santos drove in 40 runs.

Andrew Bishop, a shortstop, batted .410 with 57 total hits, including 12 homeruns and 14 doubles. Bishop scored 58 runs, drove in 55 runs and stole 23 bases.

The Jacksonville State signee set school record for homeruns and RBIs in a season. Bishop was also a finalist for the Gatorade Player of the Year.

Martin, a middle infielder/right-handed pitcher, batted .364 with 48 total hits, including nine homeruns and 11 doubles. Martin, who featured a .929 fielding percentage, drove in 49 runs and stole 16 bases.

Martin, a Coastal Carolina signee, finished with a 7-0 record and a 2.64 earned run average with one save and 58 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings on the mound.

The Panthers finished the 2010 season with a 39-6 record. Pelham dropped two-out-of-three games against Grissom in the quarterfinal round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs.
