Thompson PTO hosting sweet fundraiser

The Thompson High School Parent-Teacher Organization is planning to help Alabaster residents cool off while registering for classes July 29-30.

The PTO has booked a Kona Ice truck throughout the two-day THS registration period, and is looking to sell frozen treats to benefit the school both days, said PTO President Debbie Shackelford.

The truck will be on the campus from 8-11 a.m. and from 1-4 p.m. both days.

“A portion of the proceeds from everything sold off the truck will be used to benefit the PTO general fund,” Shackelford said. “It will be used for student scholarships, classroom scholarships and whatever we need it for throughout the year.

“We are short on money, so this could really help us out,” Shackelford said.

Even though the fundraiser will take place at the school during registration, it is open to everyone in the community, Shackelford said.

“We welcome anyone that may be in the community or just passing by to pull in and help the PTO raise money,” Shackelford said. “It doesn’t have to just be students or people at the school registering.”
