James Leroy Taylor, age 97, a resident of Chelsea, passed away peacefully with his family on Thursday, July 29. Chapel service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1, at Liberty Baptist Church with burial at Liberty Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Taylor was a life-long member of Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea. He was born in Morgan County, Ala. on July 20, 1913.
Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Blackerby Taylor (Ma); and two daughters Mary Lou Koen and Peggy Sue Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Torbit) Henry of Auburn and Katie (Herman) Cook of Pelham; son, Johnny (Susan) Taylor, Pensacola, Fla.; son-in-law, Jerry Koen, Homewood; sister-in-law, Frances Taylor, Mobile; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
